Doing Multiple Sides of an Object with PNGs?

May 26, 2014 at 4:01 PM
I decided to make a medkit for my mod project. It is basically a box, so I started by importing the PNG file of the top of the box and using scale to extrude it to the size of the medkit.

So far so good. The top of the medkit looks great ... but the sides are just straight streaks from the edges of the top. I have one good surface, but have to manually repaint five other sides.

Is it possible to import additional PNGs and project them on to the sides of an object to recolour them?

Similarly, if I use a sprite to make a voxel object as described here on the site, the front the voxel character looks fine, but the back of the character is just the reverse of the front. Again it requires tedious and extensive repainting of the back of the character. Simply projecting another PNG on the back of the object would save an awful lot of work.

someone also mentioned this functionality.

though there are several difficulties involved in this problem, but I think it worths a try!
